The transformation process towards electromobility and the desire for sustainable mobility solutions continue to determine innovation. For example, work is being carried out on engine elements for hybrid electric flight, as well as on production methods for bipolar plates and the use of sodium in solid-state batteries.

Hemp fibers as a replacement for glass fibers in new mobility systems

The use of technical biomaterials in vehicle systems represents the other major innovation impulse alongside the focus on electromobility. Hemp fibers are increasingly being used as a replacement for glass and carbon fibers in a wide range of mobility applications. Examples include transport boxes for cargo bikes, super-light seats and saddles, or a bicycle camper made predominantly from wood.

In his keynote speech, Prof. Dr. Sascha Peters gives an overview of the vehicles and developments from the mobility sector that will be presented at this year’s Innodex exhibition. Highlights include the Pocket Rocket electric motorcycle from the start-up SOL Motors, the delivery drone from Labfly in Berlin and a racing bike with tires made from dandelion rubber from Fraunhofer IME.
