SMART Material Hub

In the “Sustainability, Material, Research and Technology” (SMART) arena, ELMIA Subcontractor showcases key innovations for the technical supplier industry, focusing on circularity, technological innovation, and material disruption.

For the Material Hub, we—as a future-oriented agency for materials and technology—are curating some of the latest material innovations for the technical supplier industry. We are presenting over 40 exciting developments, ranging from CO₂-based materials and additively manufactured multi-material solutions for high-tech applications to bio-circular material innovations for technical use.

Over the past five decades, ELMIA Subcontractor has evolved into the most important trade fair for the technical subcontracting industry in Scandinavia. It ranks among the leading events for the manufacturing sector in Northern Europe, drawing representatives from large and medium-sized industrial enterprises across Sweden and neighboring countries to Jönköping for three days.

Visitors can look forward to the following highlights in the Material Hub at the SMART Arena:

• Nanographene hybrids for optical systems (Studio Lippert, Berlin; Kiel University)
• Textiles for automotive interiors made from bacterial cellulose (start-up from Mexico)
• Bio-circular PBS foam for industrial packaging (Fraunhofer CCPE)
• CO₂-based battery-grade graphite (start-up from Belgium)
• Additively manufactured combustion chamber for performance measurement in fusion reactors (Fraunhofer IGCV, Augsburg)
