Berlin Design Week Recoding Pectin Dekonstruction

Deconstruction – Recoding Materials

Exhibition

28–31 May 2026

location: M60 Die Macherei (Hallesches Ufer 60, 10963 Berlin)
organizer: Berlin Design Week

The exhibition “Deconstruction” presents innovations at the intersection of materiality, industrial waste, and current food trends. The focus is on secondary streams and recyclables from the food industry, such as fruit peels, spent grain, and coffee grounds, which are transformed into food and material innovations through creative methods of deconstruction and recoding.

Peels, kernels, fibers, proteins

In addition to special food compositions, highly developed biomaterials are used for design and interiors, thus dissolving established boundaries between food, waste and materiality.

On the occasion of Berlin Design Week, the future-oriented agency Haute Innovation makes hidden material flows visible and questions the industrial logic of surplus and waste. Insights are offered into the production processes of a new generation of biomaterials that are fully integrated into the concept of the circular economy.

“Deconstruction” sees itself as a platform for a radical rethinking: away from linear consumption patterns and towards circular material cultures in which natural waste becomes the starting point for innovation. A space at the intersection of materials research, experimental design, and nature’s coding power!
