Leica presents watch strap made of LOVR
Plant-based material complements premium range
20 November 2025
Leica is now offering a new watch strap for mechanical watches, made from LOVR, a plant-based material developed by the Darmstadt-based startup revoltech. The strap is part of Leica’s official accessory range.
Hemp residues and plant-based additives
LOVR™ is made from hemp residue and plant-based additives. It is free of plastics and contains neither PU nor PVC. The strap was specially developed for Leica mechanical watches and produced in Hesse, Germany – the same region where both companies are headquartered. Thanks to its single-layer structure, LOVR is recyclable. It was developed for applications in fashion, interior design, mobility, and accessories.
“This is a meaningful moment for us,” says Lucas Fuhrmann, co-founder and CEO at revoltech. “Leica represents timeless design and precision engineering. Seeing LOVR™ used in one of their products shows that new materials are ready for applications where quality and longevity matter.”
The collaboration exemplifies a shift in product design: towards circular material strategies that focus on performance, transparency of origin, and reintegration into the cycle. revoltech develops circular material innovations for various industries. Founded in Darmstadt in 2021, the company has launched two plant-based material solutions: LOVR and MATTR.
