Design and Sustainability - Innovation for a new Future

Berlin University of the Arts

19 October 2021

The climate crisis is facing us with great challenges and is the trigger for the greatest social transformation processes since the middle of the 20th century. Whether mobility, energy, construction or nutrition, almost all areas of life are affected and will change significantly over the next few years. The recyclability of products, zero-waste production as well as the climate-neutral use of mobility solutions and the generation of energy are the focus of a generation of designers who will break with many proven criteria for good design in the next decade. Because it is they who, through the choice of materials and means of production, will have a decisive influence on the various transformation processes through the design of the use phase of a product and the end-of-life concept.

At the invitation of Prof. Ineke Hans materials expert Hon.-Prof. Dr. Sascha Peters will offer a course on “Design and Sustainability” at the Berlin University of the Arts in the winter semester 2021/22 and will hold the introductory lecture on October 19, 2021. The presented impulses serve as input information for the projectThe Supermarket of the Future“.
