Reactive and optical materials

3rd evening event in the series of events "Materials shape Product"

27 January 2011 · 17:00–20:00

Location: Designhaus Darmstadt
Organizer: Action line Hessen-Nanotech of the Hessian Ministry of Economics
Partners: VDID, Hessen Design, Frankfurt Trade Fair
Program development: Haute Innovation – Agentur für Material und Technologie
Presentation: Dr. Sascha Peters

In the third evening event in the series “Materials shape Product” of the action line Hessen-Nanotech of the Hessian Ministry of Economics, reactive and optical multi-materials of producers and users will be presented. Material innovations of the next generation have additional qualities in addition to traditional functional aspects. For the user, the invisible qualities of applications change smarter and reactive materials expand enormously.

A change in glass facades, when exposed to sunrays, can be given a chance to be coloured or transparent. Plastics get self-healing qualities, cracks can be closed automatically. Alkaline-soluble plastics can’t be assigned to a complete new category. This refers to materials that enable the integrated circuits of materials to be reused without loss of quality.

Program

“Functional materials and surfaces for facades”, Prof. Claudia Lüling (FH Frankfurt am Main)

“Intelligent temperature management in buildings with phase change materials”, Marco Schmidt (BASF AG)

“Bioluminescent Field – The design of biological light”, Nicola Burggraf (HfG Offenbach)

“Multifunctional materials to bionic principles”, Jürgen Bertling (Fraunhofer Institut UMSICHT)

“Alkaline-soluble polymers as a reactive material for design, construction and medicine”, Werner Fieder (Belland Technology GmbH)
