Advisory board for the research consortium smart³

Advisory board for the consortium of the funding initiative "Zwanzig20 – Partnership for Innovation"

Ordering party: BMBF Federal Ministry of Education and Research

The project consortium “smart³ | materials – solutions – growth” has set the goal to accelerate the development of marketable product innovations based on so-called “smart materials”. This is a group of materials which apart from classical material qualities can provide additional functions. Among them figure for example the reaction on different environmental conditions, the change of shape under the influence of magnetism or the creation of energetic impulses under deformation. With a view to the increasing importance of sustainable aspects of our product world, of resource conservation and change of energy, the importance of intelligent materials and surfaces will increase in the future. Intelligent products help indeed to simplify the geometry of components and create new perspectives in design and architecture.

The consortium was organized by the Fraunhofer Institute IWU in Dresden which is also responsible for its direction. It is part of the promotion initiative called “ZWANZIG20 – PARTNERSHIP FOR INNOVATION” under which the Federal Ministry of Education and Research will foster until 2019/2020 innovations and economic growth in the new German Federal Lands with an amount of 500 Millions Euros. Dr.Sascha Peters was appointed a member of the advisory board in order to support the consortium with his expert knowledge and expertise.

Dr. Sascha Peters was appointed to the advisory board to support the consortium with his specialist knowledge of smart material solutions.
