Fungi materials for designers

Stilwerk · Hamburg

24 April 2026

Ten design studios, supported by Sabine Voggenreiter, founder of Passagen in Cologne, form the “Producing Designers” initiative. Together, they champion independent designers and manufacturers, pooling their resources to create a powerful alternative to the monoculture of the mass market. In April, they will present their first joint exhibition at stilwerk Hamburg.

In a spacious setting, the Producing Designers showcase furniture, lighting, porcelain, and interior design objects—collections and unique pieces rarely found on typical online marketplaces. Each exhibit embodies craftsmanship, a passion for innovation, and a clear design philosophy. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience exceptional design firsthand and purchase pieces directly on-site.

The exhibition is accompanied by a diverse program of events: panel discussions, workshops, networking evenings, and encounters with designers, industry experts, and media representatives create space for exchange, inspiration, and new perspectives. The exhibition thus becomes a vibrant dialogue.

In this context, Prof. Dr. Sascha Peters has been invited to give a presentation on the potential of fungal materials for designers. He will present results from the Fraunhofer research project Mycoustics and discuss details of the production process for Bernd Görtz’s Mycodesk.
