They generally have significantly lower carbon footprints than conventional solutions and have no negative impact on our ecosystem.<\/p>\n

Biomaterials for mobility solutions<\/h3>\n

Examples include the use of fungal mycelium for automotive interiors, high-performance expandable foam based on biochar and a biodegradable antifouling coating for ship hulls<\/a>, currently being developed at Fraunhofer IFAM. Even batteries and sensors can be manufactured entirely from natural resources.<\/p>\n

At the invitation of ELMIA Subcontractor, Prof. Dr. Sascha Peters will provide an overview of current developments in the field of technical biomaterials and highlight industrial sectors that offer considerable potential for product and technology innovations. Selected examples are highlights in the Material Lab<\/a> at the SMART Arena 2025.<\/p>\n
