The elements have similar properties to bentwood, which allows the table base to interlock without screws.<\/p>\n<h3>Inherent tension of 3D printed wood components<\/h3>\n<p>The COX table is the core model of the first-ever dynamic flatpack knockdown design system. It is the result of material studies in which Industrial Poetry describes the possibilities of additive furniture manufacturing on a large scale. The base parts of the COX table interlock analogously to a central &#8220;snap joints&#8221;. This exploits the inherent tension of the material.<\/p>\n<p>3D printing as a production technique enables a closed circular shape with dynamic thickness, where flexibility can be reduced by adding additional parallel lines. In contrast, a single line segment with slightly curved shapes offers more flexibility.<\/p>\n<p>Material optimization creates an ultra-slim structure with a height of just eight print turns, allowing a total print time of under 30 minutes. The assembly system is intuitive and can be completed in seconds without additional elements.<\/p>\n<p>The original COX table consisted of a printed base paired with a round wooden top.
