Ambiente 2022 · Ambiente · Messe Frankfurt

12 Februar 2022, 3:00–3:30 p.m.

With the restart of the trade fair industry, the two currently most important topics for economic development in almost all industries are coming back into focus: sustainability and digitization. Due to the pandemic, digital systems and economic models have grown in importance over the past 2 years. With the aim of creating a circular economy, the next major transformation process is now on the horizon, which offers great potential, especially for designers.

Orange peel, crab shells, coffee grounds

On the one hand, it is the designers who, with the choice of the materials used in a product and the composition of materials, have a decisive influence on its recyclability. On the other hand, politics is currently creating the framework conditions so that we can achieve the climate goals.

Lamps from orange peel, clocks made from coffee grounds or leather substitutes from chitin: In recent months, designers have discovered a multitude of unusual bio-based resources that are suitable for the design of products and interior solutions and that open up special opportunities for the biological cycle.

At the invitation of Messe Frankfurt, Hon.-Prof. Dr. Sascha Peters and Diana Drewes will present innovations to promote recyclability for products in the consumer goods industry as part of Ambiente 2022.
