composite of the sub bark, wool and cotton

BARKTEX Fluffy is a composite of the sub bark of Ugandan Ficus natalensis, wool and cotton. For the first time, a wooden material has been felted: rough tree meets soft sheep. In 2008, the Ugandan bark cloth production has been declared a world cultural heritage by UNESCO. BARK CLOTH is said to be the most ancient textile of mankind. Each piece is a unique specimen, telling an own story. This composite matches innovative techniques with vivid traditions. Designers value the expressive character, unique texture and sensual tactility of the materials. The allure of this exceptional material comes from its inimitable structure and the fascinating game played between ancient authenticity and state-of-the-art finishes and uses. It serves for architectural projects and products where individuality plays a central role.

Barktex Fluffy was a part of the Interzum exhibition "Smart Sustainable Materials", May, 13-16, 2013 in Cologne.
