Carpet with Shape Memory Memory Foam gets viscoelastic Qualities

22/2010

Pure Moss is a new carpet that contains shape-memory plastic. Thanks to its viscoelastic features, it adapts to our feet and is easy on the joints. It was developed by Bayer MaterialScience and consists of four layers of PUR foam and bi-elastic knitted fabric. When we step on it, the material gives where our feet are; however, the impact of our feet does not push down the surrounding fabric. Meaning that our feet remain perfectly well supported. The high PUR content cushions our steps and has a heat as well as sound insulation effect. In the living and working environment, this material is ideal because of the comfort it offers, and its use in sports facilities and physiotherapy is favorable for medical reasons. It is possible to ideally adapt its mechanic characteristics to different uses.
