Gravity Stool Shaping in a magnetic Field

4/2012

The unusual geometry of the stool is formed by utilizing gravity and a magnetic field. The designer Jolan van der Weil has built up a machine with a large magnet and presented it at IMM Cologne 2012. At the starting point of the process a magnetic powder will be mixed to the plastic mass. By combining the forces of a magnetic field and gravity it is possible to create shapes that were up to now only known from nature.
