Electroforming

Production of complex shapes from metal

Electroforming is an innovative galvanic process that creates complicated part geometries and precise surface structures. On the basis of CAD-generated models, negative silicon molds are produced into which the back of difficult surface geometries can be incised. By, for example, adding a thin layer of silver, the positive molds conduct electricity and can then be hung as cathodes in the galvanic bath where the nickel or nickel-copper coats peel off the model. To date, electroformed tools have been developed for the automobile and aerospace industries, not to mention the plastics processing industry.
